Are cabin trolleys the most popular form of carry on leather luggage?
Having returned from a trip to the UK [Ireland], the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates earlier this year I feel qualified to answer this:
Without doubt, the overwhelming carry-on luggage of choice was the wheeled trolley. Everyone, from sophisticated mature, well dressed women, pulling behind them luxurious glossy leather trolleys, to budget travellers or students with their battered nylon trolleys, used wheels to relieve them of the weight of luggage.
I was proudly carrying a gorgeous leather duffle bag, but quite often put that on top of my daughter's leather trolley for her to pull behind!
Next time it will be a Venezia Trolley or Milano Trolley for me. The only question is which one?

False Economy

So we have heard report after report about the Global Financial Crisis but what is the False Economy and how do we protect ourselves??
Let me answer this question with a perfect example:
A couple of weeks ago I was chatting with an old friend. Michael is a highly intelligent IT-savvy career man. If he doesn't immediately know the answer to a computing dilemma he will relish the opportunity to find out.
While we were talking I noticed his laptop was encased in a tatty nylon laptop sleeve. I asked him why he didn't get himself a decent laptop briefcase, especially as he carried his laptop everywhere.
He agreed that the nylon laptop sleeve looked scruffy and said he was going to get himself another one. After all it was a couple of years old. He was going to get another cheap synthetic laptop sleeve.
So why not get a leather briefcase that is guaranteed to last a lifetime? Michael replied that he didn't want to spend much.
This illustrates, perfectly, the concept of a false economy.
Michael will replace his laptop sleeve every 2 or 3 years. Before long he will have spent the equivalent of a beautiful Italian Leather briefcase. In the meantime, he gets little pleasure from his quickly deteriorating laptop sleeve, other than the knowledge that he 'saved money'.
Of course, Michael doesn't really save money but does miss out on the pleasure of incredible Italian Leather!
We are here on this earth for a good time, not a long time. If I am going to carry my laptop from place to place it will be in an Italian Leather briefcase. After all, I want to save money.
